Spatial distribution characteristics of the dust emitted at different cutting speeds during MDF milling by image analysis

Abstract Wood dust produced in medium-density fiberboard (MDF) processing is a major occupational hazard wood industry and may damage equipment. In many factories, collecting systems need to be optimized for the distributional morphological characteristics of workshop so that economical efficient control can achieved. this study, weighting, image analysis scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were applied explore effects different cutting speeds on distribution morphology generated MDF milling. The results showed most particles less than 100 μm aspect ratios (AR) between 0.6 0.7. There was significant difference particle number size (PNSD) at sampling positions. Less amount located close center, fine more likely appear far away from center. Cutting speed associated with PNSD, but had little effect AR. findings provide spatial during milling, which helpful optimizing parameters locating hoods minimize exposure.
